404 - HT-279 / Low 256 R3 NGC MS64 BN Trace Red with typical late die state. Dr. J. G. Hewett Bone Setter Practice Confined to Dislocations, Sprains, Contractions, Rheumatism, White Swellings, Weakness of the Limbs and etc., New York. Interestingly this variety is almost always found in Uncirculated condition while HT-278 / Low 255 is almost always found in worn condition. Additionally, HT-279 is struck on thin planchets from a later die state and are thought to be a restrike likely from the late 1850's. We sold a redder Raw MS64 example for $791 in our December 2019 auction. From Coin Galleries August 2009 sale. (500-750)
