337 - WV100B-11d R9 NGC MS65 40% Bright. Snow Hill 50 Cents 1864 with Indian Head reverse struck in Copper Nickel. Previously listed as Snow Hill Maryland current research shows they, along with Lorena Furnace tokens, are actually from Charleston West Virginia. Both merchants are exceedingly rare and although each has many varieties listed, like White & Swann of Huntsville Alabama, each is seemingly Unique or nearly so. We sold at fixed price on our website an NGC MS63 example of the equally rare -7b variety for $4,500 in November 2022. From the Steve Fischer and Alan Bleviss collections, earlier from Stack's November 2009 sale where it realized $5,750. (6000-8000)
