Description
271 - R. FLANAGAN NO 112 N 6th ST on obverse of 1848 Zachary Taylor campaign token. Raw FINE Token FINE but porous and holed for suspension as usual. A very rare counterstamp variety from Robert Flanagan of Philadelphia. Flanagan issued struck small cent sized and counterstamps most on Spanish Two Real coins and a single US Quarter all advertising his punch featuring a goblet. This example and another on an 1848 Lewis Cass campaign token have the same name and address but no mention of the punch or hotel at that address that he operated and likely predate all other items. First of the type we have seen offered. Miller PA 165D From the Don Miller collection. (500-750)
