386 - HT-110A / Low 316 R7 NGC AU Details Environmental damage. Trace Bright with 70% or more of original Gilt plating. There are a few marks and darker areas but nothing terribly significant. To us a fairly attractive token for the EF-AU grade range. I. Gilbert's Saddlery Warehouse, Augusta Georgia struck in Gilt Brass with a Plain edge. Signed W & B NY for the maker Wright & Bale. A very rare early Georgia merchant that, when seen, are usually low grade and / or damaged. This merchant is listed in both Copper and Brass but they are usually seen with at least a trace of Gilt even on low grade examples. We sold a Raw FINE+ example of a Gilt Copper variety for $910 in our August 1996 catalog sale. More recently we sold a Gilt Brass Raw VF Details with scratches and scrape for $881 on eBay in March 2022. The only nice example sold in recent years was a Gilt Copper Raw Choice AU from Stack's Bowers July 2008 auction that brought $11,500. From the Lumberton collection. (4000-6000)
