Description
383 - HT- 70 / Low 51 R1 PCGS VF30 Struck over an 1835 Large Cent. The Constitution As I Understand It Roman Firmness Veto with Jackass labeled LLD. A fantastic overstrike on a US Coin with the date 1835 boldly visible. 1835 is later than the 1833 and 1834 date traditionally assigned to this variety and may indicate a date of manufacture closer to 1837 as is used on many other Hard Times Tokens. From the Western, Dave Bowers and Steve Tanenbaum collections, earlier from Richard August February 1974. From our February 2021 catalog sale where it realized $1,200. (1000-1500)
