Merriam Die Sinker Medals Struck In Gold, Silver, Copper Or Tin, Boston Massachusetts .  With Thomas Sayers Champion Of England 1859 reverse die.  Sayers was a very popular boxer from an era when it was still illegal and before gloves.  He had a famous 37 round fight with John Heenan (also a Merriam subject) in 1860 and later they toured together reenacting their match. 768          MILLER MI 10          EF           Foster & Perry, Grand Rapids Michigan .  Remnants of the prior address can be seen on the reverse under the nine stars, see next lot. (25-50)

769          MILLER MI 11T       VF           Foster & Perry, Grand Rapids .  This is the very rare variety with the earlier 1845 to 1848 address 141 Water St. on the reverse.  When the firm moved in 1848 the die was modified with the addition of nine stars over the date. This is one of the two specimens noted by Rulau, I know of two others.  Ex. D. Boller collection.  (50-75)
